What kinds of volunteer opportunities do you have?
Volunteer activities consist of urban tree planting, urban park and trail beautification, and ecological restoration in our local wildlands. You can learn more about each event by clicking on the individual event. Event details, including the meetup location, will be sent in a confirmation email after you register.
Can I bring a group to volunteer at one of your scheduled events?
We'd love to have your group join us at an event. You can email us at volunteer(@)treepeople.org to find out if there is capacity for your group. Each person must sign up individually. We recommend doing this far in advance of the event to prevent it from filling up.
If you're interested in a private event, check out our webpage Teams for Trees! Information about the types of events and their required donation levels available to private corporate groups is on that webpage.

Please contact volunteer(@)treepeople.org to see if we can accommodate you. Please note that emails sent day of the event will likely not be responded to that day.
Can I get community service hours from TreePeople?
After you’ve completed your service hours, event staff members can provide verification. Be sure to let event staff know you need to verify your community service, and they will be happy to sign any paper or electronic forms for you. You can also email volunteer(@)treepeople.org once you’ve completed your hours, and we can send a signed letter.
Is the event I signed up for rain or shine?
Unfortunately, we do sometimes cancel the events due to poor weather. Pay close attention to all email correspondence for updates on cancellations and for a link to our online event status for our conservation department specifically. You will receive an email notice of the cancellation once the decision to cancel the event has been made.
To reiterate, events may be canceled if weather or site conditions are deemed unsafe. We encourage volunteers to keep a close eye on email communications for such cancellations and for more information on conservation events.
Please feel free to check out our Events Calendar to reschedule your event! We’re so sorry for the inconvenience and hope you can join us another time.
Can you plant trees in my neighborhood/street?
TreePeople has a very strategic approach to planting and is centered around underserved communities, namely in the San Fernando Valley, Southeast Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley, and Riverside County. We are hard at work attempting to expand the reach of the organization. Sign up for our newsletter to receive updates about new planting sites!
Where is the event located/why isn’t the location on the Events Calendar?
You will receive all event information (including address and meetup location information) after you’ve successfully registered for the event via the calendar above. We do not post the event location on the website to avoid walk-ins on event day and to control volunteer turnout. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and we hope you can join us!

It varies by event location. We strongly encourage Volunteers to use the restroom facilities near the event before arrival.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of times I can volunteer?
Nope! Volunteer with us as many or as few times as you’d like. We’re happy to have you back at any time!
