TreePeople and 140hours Announce Partnership for Earth Day 2010

Beverly Hills, California and New York City, New York - TreePeople, one of the United States’ leading environmental nonprofits committed to helping nature heal our cities, announced today a strategic partnership with New York City-based art auction company 140hours to raise funds for its environmental programs through an online international art auction that will commence on Earth Day, April 22nd, 2010.

140hours, which uses innovative social networking technologies, including Twitter, to facilitate bidding and purchases by art collectors and patrons in its real time online auctions, has gathered donated artworks for its “ART4theEARTH®" benefit from artists in more than 20 countries. The donated works will be sold to the highest bidders during a special 99-hour duration auction going live Thursday, April 22nd at 9 p.m. EDT at its website: www.140hours.com. The auction will run until 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sunday, April 25th, 2010.

"We are very excited to be working with TreePeople in our global initiative to raise awareness for conservation and preservation of our precious environment," stated 140hours Director G. Emerson Brant, "TreePeople's mission is a perfect fit for our "ART4theEARTH" benefit auction because this organization is working to grow and sustain green spaces, urban and mountain forests, and the beauty of our natural world.” Brant continued, “Our artists often create works based on nature’s splendor, so it is fitting that our partner in this important benefit is so committed to preserving it.”

Fifty per cent of all proceeds raised through “ART4theEARTH” will be donated to TreePeople to support its urban forestry, environmental education and sustainability programs.

“TreePeople is pleased to be collaborating with 140hours to support our sustainability, forestry and environmental education efforts,” stated Craig Prizant, TreePeople’s Sr. Director of Development and Marketing. “This partnership pairs us with 140hours’ powerful online fundraising model and we hope to do great work together.”
