S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre

Nestled among the oaks and walnut trees of Coldwater Canyon Park is the beautiful 99-seat S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre – the site of theatrical readings, musical events, environmental presentations, and educational classes.

The amphitheatre was completed and dedicated in 1997. Its construction was made possible by the generosity of the S. Mark Taper Foundation and many individuals including Johnny Carson, Candice Bergen, Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman, Steve Martin and Bonnie Raitt.

The amphitheatre is the summer home of the Actors Conservatory Ensemble (ACE). TreePeople collaborates with ACE to produce our Once Upon a Canyon Night summer performance series. This year, we’re celebrating our 10th season of live entertainment and events in the amphitheatre. All proceeds benefit TreePeople's programs.

What types of performances take place here?

Past seasons were filled with great performances by people such as Paula Poundstone, Robert Culp, The Thomas Brothers, Cliff de Young, The Animal Guys, Julie Mondin, "Def Poetry Jam's" Poetri and Lemon, Keith Michael Morgan, Allan Vogel and Mark Copeland and his Big Band. We would like to thank the performers and crews for their generosity and amazing work!
