Install a First-Flush Diverter
A first-flush diverter collects the rainy season's first rainfall off the roof, which is often the most polluted water. If you want to capture rainwater and store it in a cistern for reuse, it's important to filter out these contaminants. With a first-flush diverter, after the built-up sediments and organic materials are collected separately in a tank, the cleaner water can then flow into the cistern.
