Distribute Fruit Trees

Every January, TreePeople distributes free fruit trees to low-income communities in Los Angeles as part of our Fruit Tree Program. We always need volunteers to help prepare and distribute fruit trees during that time.

Call to action for January 2011!

We are recruiting volunteers to help with the distribution of fruit trees to community groups, schools and faith-based groups in underserved areas which have limited access to fresh fruit. It's a fun and rewarding experience. We distribute from locations in the San Fernando Valley and South L.A.

At the distribution sites, volunteers help prune trees, wrap bare-roots with damp newspaper and organize tree orders for pick up. No experience is needed.

Tree preparation and pick up take place from January 4 to January 30, Wednesdays through Sundays. We will have morning and afternoon shifts available for your convenience.

NEW! Fruit Tree Crew

This upcoming January, TreePeople plans to not only distribute trees, but also increase our education of fruit tree recipients as they receive their free tree(s). Our goal is to answer each and every question that recipients might have so they can get maximum benefit from their fruit trees.

To help us engage and educate recipients, we have created a new leadership role: TreePeople's Fruit Crew! Fruit Crew volunteers will work alongside other volunteers to help prep and distribute fruit trees from the pick-up sites in South Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Additionally, Fruit Crew volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend organization distributions to help educate individual fruit tree recipients, as well as direct Question and Answer Sessions with community members so we can keep communities engaged and continue to improve this great program!

To join our Fruit Crew and help make an impact on this new aspect of the program, please attend our Fruit Crew Orientation on Saturday, December 18. Register here. All skills levels are welcome. Green thumbs and bi-lingual speakers are encouraged to attend!

Also, for those excited to get their hands dirty, come help us on our load-in day where we will be unloading thousands of fruit trees at our two distribution sites.
