Development Associate

SUMMARY 
The Development Associate will perform a variety of skilled creative, production, and administrative duties related to fundraising, database management, member services, recognition and benefit events, and Tree Dedications. The Development Associate will also have thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all TreePeople programs, partnerships, special events, tree dedications, membership programs, organization history, mission, and information about the Center for Community Forestry and Coldwater Canyon Park.

REPORTS TO: Development Manager    

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain tree dedication and donor operations including fulfilling all tree dedication orders, processing donor gifts and acknowledgements, gift coding, monthly sales & marketing reports, and communication with data processing center and accounting.
2. Manage tree dedication and donor correspondence including phone and e-mail inquires, concerns, and issues.
3.  Support the Tree Dedication program to meet strategic and fiscal objectives including assisting with marketing and promotion, coordinating holiday campaigns, and overall functionality of the online store.
4. Serve as supporting point person for tree dedication customers, existing donors, and prospective donors, with the exception of major donors, and in-kind membership partners.

SECONDARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1.  Oversee, the inventory and organization of all donor and tree dedication inventory such as postage, card stock, and publications.
2. Help maintain donor database Salesforce, including entering and correcting data and acting as liaison for department.
3. Collaborate with Development Manager to expand partnership and support between TreePeople and outside retailers, companies and organizations.
4. Provide back up support for department with miscellaneous donor, membership and tree dedication projects whenever necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Friendly and compassionate, with excellent communication and editing/proofreading skills: good attention to detail
2. Creativity in planning, promoting and problem solving and ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
3. Must have a desire to learn and be a team player
4. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
5. Knowledge of Salesforce, Exact Target, and Drupal a plus
