TreePeople is partnering with the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council to demonstrate a new design for streets in Los Angeles.
The Elmer Avenue Retrofit project is changing the way that stormwater is managed on city streets. Stormwater runoff will be captured on Elmer Avenue, infiltrated under the street, and ultimately percolated into the San Fernando Aquifer. Elmer Avenue will also receive an above ground landscape retrofit. The parkways will be planted with native and drought-tolerant species, and on December 19, we are planting, oak, sycamore, and western redbud trees to line the street. Please join TreePeople's Pam Gibson as we plant 34 trees!
All volunteers must individually pre-register to attend. If you would like to register a group, please contact Lisa Sotelo at firstname.lastname@example.org. This is a first come first served opportunity.
