Citizen Forester en Español

TreePeople’s Citizen Forester En Espanol program supports mono-lingual Spanish speakers and organizations working with these communities, to organize volunteer tree plantings and tree care events along city streets and in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles.

What we have to offer

Outreach and education for organizations with mono-lingual Spanish speakers

Platicas en espanol: An adult presentation for up to 15 people. This interactive roundtable is facilitated by a native Spanish speaker and addresses the connections between trees and immigrants, and the steps involved in becoming a Citizen Forester.

Natural Connections: An educational fieldtrip to Coldwater Canyon Park (TreePeople headquarters) for family groups. Participants are taken on a guided walk in Spanish to learn about the connections between nature and the city, and what they can do to become Citizen Foresters. Bus provided.

Volunteer opportunities at tree planting and tree care events

Join in on tree planting and tree care events happening around Los Angeles that have Spanish speakers and translators available.

Training and support on how to organize a tree planting in your community

Work as an organization to become Citizen Foresters. TreePeople supplies all training, information and support needed to organize volunteer tree plantings and follow-up tree care events. Materials are specifically designed for the mono-lingual Spanish speaking community.

Training for volunteer leaders

In preparation of an organization's tree planting event, trainings are available in Spanish for Planting Supervisors to help manage groups of volunteers at the tree planting and show them the right way to plant trees. Tree Care Coordinator Training is also available for those who will help coordinate tree care and ensure the survival of the newly planted trees.
