Community Giving Days from 5 Valley Stores Support Urban Forestry Nonprofit

Los Angeles – A recent Community Giving Day across five San Fernando Valley Whole Foods Market locations, including Porter Ranch, Sherman Oaks East, Sherman Oaks West, Valencia, and Woodland Hills, has raised $14,237 in support of Los Angeles nonprofit, TreePeople. The money represents five percent of the total sales from all five locations on May 5th.

“Echoing our commitment to the environment, Whole Foods Market applauds TreePeople as they encourage Los Angeles residents to have a hand in creating a sustainable urban environment,” said Tina Landrum, Marketing Supervisor, Valencia. “We and our customers are pleased to assist TreePeople in their efforts to protect the world around them.”

Whole Foods Market’s donation supports TreePeople’s urban forestry, environmental education and sustainable cities programs. These programs include wildfire restoration; training and supporting communities to plant and care for trees; educating schoolchildren and adults about environmental issues; demonstrating sustainable solutions to urban ecosystem problems; and working with government agencies on critical water issues facing the Los Angeles region.

“We’re grateful to the customers and staff at Whole Foods Market who have given so generously to support TreePeople’s work to heal our local environment,” says Andy Lipkis, TreePeople founder and president. “This donation represents a special commitment from Whole Foods Market and the people from our local Valley communities. Together we’re making Los Angeles a healthier place for everyone.”
