Alfred Hitchcock Radio Play Kicks Off TreePeople’s 10th Season
LOS ANGELES – With the return of summer, the S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre in Coldwater Canyon Park is pleased to announce its 10th season of lively, outdoor entertainment from July 16 to September 25. TreePeople’s Once Upon a Canyon Night series opens Friday, July 16 and Saturday, July 17 with The 39 Steps & Suspicion, an Alfred Hitchcock Radio Play double feature. General admission tickets are $15; TreePeople members and seniors are $10. All proceeds benefit the Los Angeles nonprofit TreePeople.
The 10th season of Once Upon a Canyon Night includes theatrical, musical, comedy and film events, along with workshops designed to serve a wide-ranging audience in the woods and under the stars. In addition to the Hitchcock radio plays, this year’s other performances include: Paula Poundstone, Lou Barlow & The Missingmen, Mark Copeland & his orchestra salute ‘Ella,’ film night with The Graduate, a staged reading of Light up the Sky by Moss Hart, a Family Concert with Tom Freund & Friends, a staged reading of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution, a night of spoken word with Spark off Rose, and the season will close with a table reading of Airplane!, the original screenplay of the hit comedy, live on stage, with new material from Co-Creator David Zucker.
Three special Sundays in the Park workshops compliment the evening performances: Photography with Caroline Davies, Yoga with Lindsley Allen of Rising Lotus Yoga and Qi Gong with Merle Morgan.
Reviewer Tom Hatton (KNX Radio) praised the S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre as “a jewel; a mini-Hollywood Bowl” in the center of Los Angeles.
Capacity for the intimate venue ranges from 85 to 250 seats and guests are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy before the show. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
